What is Neuro-Humoral Massage? Neuro-Humoral Massage is based on the premise that the body heals itself and knows what it needs for that healing . . . but needs assistance in creating the necessary healing environment.
The therapist, as a facilitator, helps to create the healing environment, using the body's nervous system (neuro) and fluid-circulation systems (humoral) to encourage natural homeostatic activities.
What is the basis for these techniques? Techniques in this workshop were developed clinically, in more than a century of medical research conducted in Russia and countries of the former Soviet Union.
Massage in these countries has been - and still is - a primary healthcare modality, practiced by medical doctors and nurses, to treat virtually every system of the human body.
Russian Sportsmassage, researched and practiced in these countries since 1927, is the most advanced in the world. It is used in training, pre-event, post-event, regeneration, injury treatment and off-season "hygienic" applications.

Are there pre-requisites for taking these Workshops? Knowledge of anatomy, physiology,kinesiology and basic massage technique is necessary to understand principles of Russian Massage, but any licensed, or practicing massage therapist or student may take the Basic class.

UNWINDING BASIC TECHNIQUES AND CLINICAL APPLICATIONS |
Unwinding is a process of exploration, working from a fascial connective tissue model of the human body, . Proceeding from a fundamental knowledge and awareness of the cranio-sacral rhythm, the therapist "listens" for restrictions in its expression through the body - extremities, trunk, neck, cranium - and facilitates the body's attempt to complete a movement and restore a balanced rhythm.
This work evolved in my practice from a combination of one-on-one teaching from Joel Kay, MD, and Sherry Smith, PT, plus extensive reading of the works of John Upledger, DO, Jean-Pierre Barral, DO, Alain Gehin, DO, and John Barnes, PT, and hundreds of hours of hands-on experience.
Unwinding is solidly based in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology. Students are amazed at what they can feel and how gently they can effect releases (one even wrote me that doing the work has "changed her life"). Clients are amazed by the profound and lasting changes that they feel after a session.

DAYSHOPS ONE-DAY CLINICAL FOCUS WORKSHOPSDayshops address specific clinical challenges that a massage therapist may encounter: shoulder pain or restricted ROM, hip or knee pain, ankle injuries, carpal tunnel or thoracic outlet syndrome. We'll focus an enitire day on a particular part of the body, studying the kinesiology involved, a variety of techniques for addressing problems, and practice in different situations - table, seated-massage chair, ordinary straight chair - to make your work not only more effective, but more versatile and portable.
These short intensives are a great way to get continuing education, at a reasonable cost, for re-licensing or re-certification. Each workshop is complete in itself, offering 8 contact hours toward state licensing or national certification requirements.
